Phil Collins in Record Collector's December 2000 issue: "...in the early days of Genesis there was a Scandinavian duo who asked me to appear on a track. They picked me up from a Genesis gig and we did a session and I never got a copy of that. I don't even know what it's called!?"

Rael I just got a chance to listen to some tracks by Rael, an Argentinan Genesis anno 70-73 sound-a-like. One snippet was recently circulating on the Internet, and the speculations went if this was a "hidden" part of one of the recently revealed Jackson tape tracks. It's not, but rather a beautiful song from Rael's 1997 release "Mascaras Urbanas". I know I have to get my hands on this album, especially after hearing more snippets on www.fnac.com...

Two Hacketts return to Italy Two years down the road already since Steve's last escapade to Italia. A long time, by any stretch, to wait to hear your favourite guitar player strum his magical chords. But finally, at last, here we are in April K2: Our main man is back with his acolytes for a new voyage.
This time it is acoustic and the particularity of this tour is two-fold: The grand return of brother John and the fact that the tour's itinerary is taking us to more unfamiliar towns of Italy, away from the usual European touring circuits of standard Brit Pop and Roll bands. No, Steve is doing it in style and has chosen some of the most beautiful venues of Italy to perform his art.

Peter Gabriel remastered It's probably the first time that the music of one of the greatest bands in the history of popular music has been arranged, played and recorded on two Steinway D Grand Pianos and published on CD. Two Norwegian guys have put their hearts, and minds, into this exciting project, and it sounds really great. As you see, they've been able to visualize their music with a great piece of cover art - by the not very unknown artist Paul Whitehead. The Path celebrates Guddal & Matte's album - now it's up to the "masters" to share their thoughts. More info on the project will follow.

One copy for Billy Bob - and one for you E-mail from Armando Gallo, October 30:
Hi Thomas - The other day I met Billy Bob Thornton. He is Angelina Jolie's husband, actor, director, producer and a great musician. For his Oscar winning film "Slingblade" he used Daniel Lanois so we became friends. He has just released a great album, his first one, "Private Radio" a trip into the heartland of America. It's a fantastic CD. This are his roots of music of the deep South of late sixty early 7O's. So i gave him the Genesis book so he can check out what was happening in England at the same time. Please, see if you can add this photo to your site with a message telling the fans out there that we are now at the last 500 books from the limited print run of 3000. People assume that the book is sold out, but this is not the case. If you can, bless you! One Love! Armando...

The Genesis Songbook - available now Here's Alan's story, and review, of The Genesis Songbook, a new DVD and video release covering interesting aspects of our favourite group's musical development. "Utilising old footage and some new performances specifically recorded by Tony, Phil an Mike last autumn including a truly glorious acoustic 'Afterglow' with just Phil and Tony, the programme manages to tell the Genesis story succinctly and without any undue nostalgia..."

The Path - a little bit sleepy these days? Yes, definately. Due to a heavy workload and not much time for updates on stuff currently going on in the Genesis camp, my advice is to check out some of the more regularly updated resources. So, while my path is a little bit unclear, check out:
- The Way They Walk, by Gary Best
- The Waiting Room, by Alan Hewitt
- The German Fanclub IT, by Helmut Janisch
- Dusk, The Italian Fanclub

Old Genesis treasures revealed In the January 2001 issue of Record Collector we can all find exciting news on a recently Genesis tape of previously unknown musical pieces which were supposed to be the band's first conceptual work of music. In January 1970 Genesis recorded four tracks meant to be used for a documentary on the "obscure" painter Mick Jackson. They were movements, called "Provocation", "Frustration", "Manipulation" and "Resignation" - with parts later recognized as "Looking for Someone" and "Anyway". The reel-to-reel tape is rumoured to have grabbed the band's attention, and Tony has obviously shown some interest in doing something with it. More info to follow...

It is here - it is now - it is real - it is... ...The Musical Box! I wasn't there, but I know it was real, that Rael was there - and unfortunately not here. But Roger Salem was there, in Montreal last autumn - experiencing THE tribute to Genesis and their efforts from the early seventies. Here follows Roger's report from his trip to Canada - including his experiences from meeting up with all the fans, seeing The Musical Box' rendition of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - and just beeing there!
The Musical Box will be playing their shows in Canada in November and December - and hopefully they will be able to take The Lamb abroad soon. There are rumours that Peter Gabriel and Mike Rutherford will be present at some of the remaining shows in Canada. Let's face it - Genesis will never play The Lamb again. So why not let other brilliant musicians do it?

Genesis reunited last Autumn From VH1: Phil Collins will join his old bandmates Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford to perform as Genesis for the first time since he left the band in 1995. The prog-pop rockers are reforming to pay tribute to their manager Tony Smith at September 21's Music Managers Forum in London, where Smith will pick up the Peter Grant Award for Outstanding Achievement.
Phil Collins has another reason to celebrate other than getting back together with old friends. The BBC reported that the 49-year-old Collins and his 28-year-old wife, Orianne, are expecting their first child. Orianne is said to be three months pregnant.
"It is very early days yet and they have not even told all the members of their families yet," said a spokesman. Phil Collins married Orianne in July 1999 after hiring her as his interpreter.
What happened?
Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and Daryl Stuermer played a short semi-acoustic selection of hits, including "Invisible Touch", "Follow Me Follow You" and "I Can't Dance". Tony played keyboards, Mike and Daryl played their acoustic guitars, and Phil sang and played assorted percussion. Hopefully, more pictures from the event will follow soon.

OVO is here to enjoy you Finally we have some output from Peter Gabriel, this time his musical contribution to the show at London's Millennium Dome. This album is not a follow-up to 'Us' from 1992, but rather a musical intermezzo for all of us waiting for Peter's next solo effort. But it works. In the spirit from 'Passion', Peter and his musicians keep us following OVO's journey through life - from life to death. There are several musical highlights on the album, everything from abstract soundscapes to rhythmic and heavy pieces like 'The Tower That Ate People'. There are also strong contributions from old Hackett friend Richie Havens and Afro Celt System's Iarla O Lionaird. And of course, Peter is very present all the time. My guess is that his forthcoming 'Up' will not be too different from this excellent effort. Just buy it!
