Mike Rutherford's independency

Last week, an email from Carol Willis Impey of Hit and Run telling us that the future of Genesis is still undecided. They may decide to record or tour some time in the future, but at the moment not even the management know what to think. Anyway, we're being calmed down by another box set - the second compilation of rare material should be out the first week of November 2000. We can expect a three disc set with rare stuff from between 1976-92, including a work in progress version of Mama with the group jamming in the studio. Let's hope for some really nice material, including b-sides, live rarities and hopefully some more demos. I'll keep you posted on further details.

With Jim Beckwith down at the Farm

Finally we have some output from Peter Gabriel, this time his musical contribution to the show at London's Millennium Dome. This album is not a follow-up to 'Us' from 1992, but rather a musical intermezzo for all of us waiting for Peter's next solo effort. But it works. In the spirit from 'Passion', Peter and his musicians keep us following OVO's journey through life - from life to death. There are several musical highlights on the album, everything from abstract soundscapes to rhythmic and heavy pieces like 'The Tower That Ate People'. There are also strong contributions from old Hackett friend Richie Havens and Afro Celt System's Iarla O Lionaird. And of course, Peter is very present all the time. My guess is that his forthcoming 'Up' will not be too different from this
